Today was the Food for Fashion show, presented by the Keizer Iris Festival. It's an annual show done to rais money and food for the Keizer community food bank. I can't think of a better reason to see a fashion show. Rarely do we see how high fashion can help the needy. For a great cause, seeing the show is worth the three dollars if you bring canned food. Along with the fashion show there was a flower show(consisting of mostly Irises) and an art show. Coming from Portland and Corvallis I though "oh Keizer, that's going to be a nice little show". WRONG! It was big, big and awesome. I had no idea this was such a big deal. Fashion shows aren't such a chick thing anymore. Being a fashion critic is fun and press makes it even more fun. This being the first press pass I have ever had., I was pretty pumped. Before the show, bags were handed out, granted they were Catherines plus size bags, but they had candy so I accepted it. The show was organized great. The music wasn't bad and the people running the show had a definite plan. They all get an A. The designers I was less than pleased with, but I don't judge. The Judges did that. The winner, Echo Earth (aka Laurisa Lua), had some great simple designs that anybody could wear. Chelsea Miles got second with her popcan tab dress and Kayla Kennington got 3rd with an Asian inspired (I assume) dress with a long head piece. I made some notes for the Models: SMILE, it's not tough, and makes it look like you have a soul. None of your teeth are so perfect that they will create a glare for the photographer. Designers: Simple is better, that giant head piece may look great but realize that high fashion does not equal real fashion. People: Go to fashion shows, it doesn't matter how big or small you think it is going to be, go and have fun. The spectrum show at OSU was free to students, this show was only $3.oo if you brough cans. That's all I have to say to the people. I have to put the pictures in a small second post, click on them to see the bigger picture.
